It was exactly ten days ago that the last bunch of grapes of the 2022 harvest campaign, the twentieth, although it seems impossible, came through the door of Bodegas Ferratus.
During the preparation time, with long days of sampling, and the days of the harvest itself, my head and my heart have been focused on getting the best fruit for the unrepeatable wines that will be those of 2022. The entire Ferratus team has tried to keep every detail under control, although I will not deny that they have been very intense days, with hot days and cold nights, impossible roads in an all-terrain vehicle, nerves, backaches and grape binges.
This year the grapes, harvested by expert hands, transported and unloaded on the sorting tables with care, have far exceeded the expectations we had at the beginning of September, and the scarce rains of this month have been used by the vine, a wise plant adapted to the harsh Castilian climate, to give us its best fruit.
The results are years away but I am sure that, with the good work of our beloved oenologist Emmanuel Ivars and the experience of our winemaker Felipe Gayubo, the wines of this 2022 vintage will be at the level of their predecessors: “I thank all my team and toast to them”. Cheers!
