FERRATUS ROSÉ 2020: AMAZING AND CAPTIVATING, IDEAL FOR RED WINE LOVERS

Fecha

It is possibly one of the most amazing rosés from Ribera del Duero and, due to its character, it will also captivate red wine lovers. It is the new style of rosé by María Luisa Cuevas, who has sought a singular, modern and typical wine, with a delicate and refined coral colour, but with density and structure in the mouth.

Subtle work on the lees and partial fermentation in barrels provide the body and captivating aromas that we appreciate in this Ferratus Rosé 2020.

Ferratus Rosé 2020 has been made from 100% Tempranillo grapes by ephemeral bleeding at low temperature which gives much more fruit expression to the wine.   The grapes come from 20-year-old vines located at an altitude of 860 metres above sea level. The grapes are harvested by hand in 14 kg crates.

TASTING NOTES

– Coral-coloured, transparent, clean and very bright.

Fragrant and delicate. Strawberry and cherry aromas stand out, intermingled with flowers such as carnation, geranium and violet and a background of laurel, clove and pink pepper, which give it its captivating character.

The palate is unusual, much denser than other rosés in its category, due to the fact that it is 100% Tempranillo and fermented on lees. Very balanced acidity, pleasant, full-bodied and refreshing.

THE PAIRING OF FERRATUS ROSÉ

Alone, ideal as an aperitif or mid-afternoon snack.

Sausages with flavour and without paprika (mortadella di Bologna, brezaola, Iberian ham, fuet, white sausages such as Bavarian sausages, butifarra, blanquet).

Soft cheeses with little ripening (brie, Serena cheese, goat cheese) and smoked cheeses.

Any dish with tomato sauce (pasta, rice, cod with tomato, lasagne, pizza).

– Light exotic cuisines (Asia, Thailand, Mexico, China, Japan).

The 2020 Harvest

Still to be graded, the 2020 vintage was the third most productive in the history of the Ribera del Duero DO. Strange and particularly long, the harvest took a long time due to the changeable weather.  But the rain alternated with strong gusts of wind that aired and dried the plants and did not affect the ripening process, so the fruit arrived at the winery in very good health and ripeness.

The wines of the 2020 vintage, according to the first tastings carried out, point to fresh young wines, with great colour and aromas, although they will also be great wines for ageing.
